In most instances, Siemens MI-SPECT installs a computer system from Hewlett Packard. These systems have diagnostics available in the startup menu. Simply reboot the workstation and then press <esc> repeatedly to access the Startup Menu, and then press [F2] to access System Diagnostics. Afterwards, the user can select Systems Tests or Component Tests as needed.
Virus Scanning:
Typically, a virus will only infect the C:\ partition. However, in many instances, the IT Department may want the entire system scanned (e.g., the C:\, D:\, E:\ and H:\ partitions). Be advised that scanning the E:\ partition includes scanning each and every patient file, and that can be extremely time-consuming. If possible, create an empty patient database prior to scanning.
On older MI-SPECT systems running Windows XP and Windows 7, Siemens installed Trend Micro OfficeScan anti-virus software. If the system was [a] covered by a Siemens service agreement and [b] connected to SRS (Siemens Remote Services), virus pattern updates were pushed to the workstation on a weekly basis.
On Windows 7 systems running Siemens VB21 software, McAfee Solidcore Whilelisting replaced Trend Micro OfficeScan.
Be advised that Trend Micro OfficeScan and McAfee Whitelisting are the only anti-virus products that have been authorized and validated for Siemens MI-SPECT systems.
On MI-SPECT systems running Windows 10, Siemens does not install anti-virus software. Instead, Siemens relies upon Device Guard.
If you need to run a virus scan, then download and create a bootable Kaspersky Rescue Disk. Afterwards, boot the workstation using that media and perform a virus scan.
To reiterate, HP computers have memory tests in their startup menu.
If you need to run a memory test, then download and create a bootable MemTest86 CD. Afterwards, boot the workstation using the CD and perform a memory test.
To reiterate, HP computers have hard drive tests in their startup menu.
If you need to run a hard drive test, then download and create a bootable Ultimate Boot CD. Afterwards, boot the workstation using that media and perform a memory test.
NOTE: The latest version of the Ultimate Boot CD is over 800 MB, so you will need to burn it to to DVD media instead of a CD.
